Digital photography is an enormous and endlessly fascinating subject; a journey even. You can spend a lifetime studying and practicing, and still keep discovering new things.

Unlike analogue photography of the past, creating a digital photograph is multi-stage process:

• Configure your camera settings
• Compose the picture & press the shutter
• Post process the picture (for example in Lightroom or Photoshop)
• Share the photograph on social media (Instagram and Flickr)
• Stream the photograph to your television

Composition is explained in our Basics of Composition Workshop. This is the starting point for those beginning the journey.

Camera settings are explained in our Intermediate Workshop

Our Advanced Workshop covers advanced composition, and more obscure camera settings.

The workshops are designed to follow on from each other, but we advise thoroughly practicing the techniques learned first before following the next course.

And for night owls, we run a Night Photography Workshop

We also offer an extended course of 4 lessons on Adobe Photoshop for Photographers.

The workshops are approximately 3 hours in length, and take place in the beautiful city of Leiden.

The workshops clearly explain the necessary theory, but the emphasis is on practical learning. So we will let you practise what we teach on various photographic locations throughout the city.

We will also give you interesting background information about the history and culture of Leiden.

Our workshops are friendly and informal, for small groups of up to 4 people. Above all, we aim to make photography fun.

Naturally, three hours is not long enough to make you an expert on the subject of the course. To help you practice what you have learned, you will have access to our tuition web pages, where the theory is summarized in easy to understand sections.

The weather in the Netherlands can be unpredictable, especially in Autumn and Winter.

But it seldom rains the for whole day. If the rain is torrential the workshop will be cancelled, but if it is not heavy the tour will go on regardless.

Photographers are hardy folks, and stormy skies and wet pavements present some of the most exciting photo opportunities!
